Sapporo International Youth Hostel is located in a very difficult place to come by car.
Also, Sapporo is a very big city. Among them, this Toyohira district has a long history and many roads are hard to find.
Please be sure to check the location before coming.
You cannot enter the parking lot from Route 453 (Hiragishi Kaido) on the Hokkaido Gakuen University side.
There is an address sign next to the signal intersection in Sapporo. Please refer to that.

From central Sapporo City via Route 36
If you cross Toyohira Bridge which crosses Toyohira River and drive about 600 m, you will find the intersection with National Route 453 (Hiragishi Kaido), so please turn right to National Route 453 from National Route 36. When you turn right, you will see a sign of Sapporo International Youth Hostel on your left.

1How to go according to the sign
Turn left at the third traffic light intersection.
Go slowly (along Route 453) and you’ll see Exit 2 in front of Gakuen Subway on your left and Hokkaido Gakuen University on your right.
Turn left twice according to the map under the youth hostel sign. The first left turn goes along Ikegami Gakuin, and the second left turn goes left at the end.
You can see a tall apartment building (La Paul Gakuen-mae) on your left. The next four-story building is the youth hostel. There is a yellow-green YH sign, so please park your car there. -

Ignore the sign but a shortcut (for those who have a sense of direction)
Turn right from Route 36 to Route 453, then turn left at the second traffic light and enter the street with trees. Turn right at the first signal intersection (Toyohira 5 -7). YH is a four-story building in the back of a brown condominium (DUO & Welfare Clinic). There is a yellow-green YH sign, so please park your car there.

*If you pass here, turn left at the next traffic light intersection. (Please refer to the description above as you enter Route 453. -

This is the parking area. The building you see on the left is YH.

If you put your motorcycle in the parking lot of YH, please call from the intercom of the parking lot. We will open the shutter.
Take the expressway from Tomakomai and Chitose Airport.
If you come from Chitose area, the easiest exit is Kita-Hiroshima IC. As soon as you get off, you will get to Route 36, so please turn right and enter outside Sapporo. After about 40 minutes, the center of the city gets closer little by little. If you pass the intersection with Kanjo-dori Street (there is a big building of Toyota Corolla on the left), it is about 2 kilometers away.
Then, refer to “Route 36 from Tomakomai and Chitose directions” below.
*The closest IC in terms of distance is Hokugo IC, but it is very difficult to find it after getting off, so it will be difficult to come without a car navigation system. If you get off at Hokugo IC by mistake, please do your best to get to Kanjo-dori Street and head for Toyohira. Turn right at the intersection with Highway 36 (Toyota Corolla has a large building) and drive toward town.
From Tomakomai or Chitose, through Route 36.
Go straight on Route 36 toward Sapporo. The address of Sapporo city is displayed under the traffic light. Please be careful when the address becomes Tsukisamu Chuo-dori → Misono and Toyohira.
After passing Toyohira 3 -8 pedestrian bridge, turn left at the second traffic light intersection (Toyohira 4 -6). It’s an intersection with Net’s Toyota Toyohira store on the right front and an unobtrusive 7-Eleven (Toyohira 7-chome store) on the left.
Turn left and you will see a brown apartment building (DUO & Kosei Clinic) at the end of the first traffic light intersection.
Sapporo Kita IC: Take National Route 5 from central Sapporo City
Please go straight on Route 5 to the south. Turn left and cross Toyohira River. Turn right at the fourth traffic light (Toyohira 5 -7, you can see the elementary school gymnasium at the back left.) from there. YH is a four-story building in the back of a brown condominium (DUO & Welfare Clinic). There is a yellow-green YH sign, so please park your car there. * If you cross the bridge and pass the second traffic light, you will see a sign on your left saying “Sapporo International Youth Hostel →”, but please ignore it and go straight ahead.
From Lake Shikotsu via Japan National Route 453 or from Japan National Route 230(Nakayama Pass)
Drive along Route 453 (commonly known as the Hiragishi Kaido Road), and after passing the busy street on the Hiragishi coast, you will see Family Mart → Kindergarten/Grand (Hokkai Gakuen) on your left. Turn right at the next signal intersection, Asahicho 4 (where Family Mart is located).
Then turn left at the first traffic light intersection, and turn left at the intersection just below the traffic light. (It is a complex intersection, so please be careful)
There are about 4 tall brownish buildings on the left side of the road, and only one of them is a 4-story low building. That’s YH. The back of the four-story building is the parking lot.
From Asahikawa on the Hokkaido Expressway and get off at Sapporo JCT.
When you get off the highway, go straight to Sapporo. Keep going straight and turn left at the second traffic light (Toyohira 5 -3) after passing the intersection with Route 36. Turn right at the second traffic light (Toyohira 5 -7, you can see an elementary school on your left.). YH is a four-story building in the back of a brown condominium (DUO & Welfare Clinic). There is a yellow-green YH sign, so please park your car there.
*If you turn left at the traffic light (Toyohira 5 -3), you will see the sign “Sapporo International Youth Hostel →” on your left, but ignore it and go straight ahead.

If you use the expressway, please get on from Tomakomai Higashi IC. It is convenient to get off at Kitahiroshima. Give me an hour and a half. If you don’t use the expressway, go to Route 36 and go straight toward Sapporo. About two hours. Then, refer to “Route 36 from Tomakomai and Chitose” on the left.

If you use an expressway, please get on at Atsuma IC and drive toward Sapporo of Doodo. It is convenient to get off at Kitahiroshima. Please take less than 2 hours. If you don’t use the expressway, go to Route 36 from Route 235 and go straight towards Sapporo. About two and a half hours. Then, refer to “Route 36 from Tomakomai and Chitose” on the left.

If you use an expressway, please get on at Noboribetsu Muroran IC. It is convenient to get off at Kitahiroshima. Give me two hours. If you don’t use the expressway, go to Route 36 and go straight toward Sapporo. About three and a half hours. Then, refer to “Route 36 from Tomakomai and Chitose” on the left.

Go to Route 5 to head for Sapporo. The expressway is easy to find if you get off at Sapporo Kita IC. Take an hour. If you drive on a local road, please be strong for 1 hour. From there, please refer to “Sapporo Kita IC: From central Sapporo, via Route 5” on the left. Our reception starts at 6:00 AM. Please note that you cannot enter earlier than that. Check-in starts at 3:00 PM, but we can keep your luggage and car.
We have an indoor bike parking for motorcyclists and cyclists.
If you want to put your bike inside, please contact from the intercom in front of the bike storage area in front of the building.
If you want to stop for a while, you can park in the parking area.
By the way, motorcycles and cars are more convenient to go to sightseeing spots and delicious ramen restaurants in Sapporo.
